The 101-year-old cheesemaker, Fromagerie Gilbert is a regional powerhouse in southern Quebec, locating in the Beauce and selling across many regions on the south side of the Saint-Laurent. Bringing together dairy from several quality Quebec milk producers together to produce delicious fresh and aged cheeses. Specializing in fresh curds, block cheddar and salted tortillon, Fromagerie Gilbert can process up to 20,000 liters of milk per day depending on the season.
Dairy processers across North America turn to Miura steam for many uses including pasteurization and kettle heating. A dairy steam boiler is a great way to create the necessary heat for milk processing because steam can be directed and applied for specific time frames to ensure proper and even heating of the milk. Steam power is also crucial for sterilizing surfaces and equipment to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria, as well as heating the dairy plant itself and carrying out other tasks food processors need to accomplish daily.
Referred to Miura by one of our local partners, Fromagerie Gilbert reached out when needs arose for a new steam boiler. Having fluctuating steam demands and with an eye on the future, the team at Fromagerie Gilbert went with a EX100SG unit from Miura. Choosing this model, which allows both low and high-fire options, leaves Fromagerie Gilbert more flexibility in day-to-day operations and open to adding additional units with an MI controller later. Considering the impressive growth Fromagerie Gilbert has had in the past, staying open to future growth is a smart game plan.
Running their Miura EX100SG on low fire allows Fromagerie Gilbert to run their system with out a boiler operator (Mécaniciens de Machineries Fixes) on site, saving them money while maintaining a safe and efficient system. Fromagerie Gilbert’s General Manager, Jimmy Poulin says of their EX-boiler “[it is] very responsive. The machine works well and meets our needs.”
10/10 Service was awesome. The machine works well and meets our needs.
