Recently, Miura Canada General Manager, Jonathan Murphy, Service Department Assistant Manager, Ryan Boyd and Quality Control Inspector, Quentin Hopkins had the opportunity to join teammates from Miura America on a trip to Miura’s Global Headquarters in Matsuyama, Japan. After a cross-continental flight, the team traveled from Tokyo to Matsuyama in the Ehime Prefecture.
Between meetings and training sessions the team toured the Miura museum seeing historic Miura items like the first Miura Z-type boiler and factory floor. Of the tour Jonathan says; “The plant is WOW. Everything works like a swiss watch over there, they make boilers like cars, on a moving assembly line. So efficient, so smooth. Lean at it’s finest.”
The professional development offered on this trip really enhanced the team’s connection with our Miura Japan counterparts. Training sessions, planning meetings and team building socializing all brought colleagues from a variety of departments together. Seeing the Japanese MOM centre, talking R&D and planning our future as a global Miura brand really brought the team together.
In addition to diving deep into Miura’s history, the team visited a number of attractions while in Japan. Between dinners with colleagues, they took an Udon Noodle making class, shopped in historic old town and overall experienced the wonderful culture of Japan. Jonathan felt it was “organized chaos, thousands of people but all orderly, respectful and never pushy.” Safe to say a good time was had by all!
